ramble

the face of god
is never muffled against the wind
the face of god is exposed
waiting through the ravages of time
through eternity

every direction
points to home
each step away
is one pace closer

there are times when asking questions
is a way of changing answers
and it’s only the big ones
keep me awake in my bed

the rolling of the stars
stops me from sleep

but I look out on the ravine
across the gorge
where the trees give way
the light picks out an emerald greening
that sings almost aloud
of life
and worth
and the power of myself to be
exactly where I am

even exposed to the wind of winter
that curls beneath my coat
ravages my face
like a blade
wielded by time

to carve a faint likeness
of wisdom

every direction points to home
each step is one pace closer
to a vision of god

  1. Yet another beautiful post, Frank!

Really, I can’t help but wonder how you do this. It’s a poem and a story. It’s a story fragmented into parts, yet done in a way that is light and beautiful to behold. Frankly, I can’t help but wonder where you learned to do this! I can’t stop the smile from spreading across my face when reading this and the last one, both which are so very beautiful. They resonate in ways everyone can relate to, I think.

So good job. Once again. I look forward to seeing what you write next, Frank!
