ageing optimism

they’ve built a nursing home
just down the street

it’s gone up
in no time

and now they’re landscaping

funny how
even in the middle
of the worst dry
we’ve ever known

it’s still ok
to plant grass
and water it
in the middle of the day

perhaps
wiser heads than mine

these planners
of old folks homes

are optimistic

    • Yes, I can imagine.

At the time there were some extraordinary ructions going on over the use of water and access to it.

What amazes me is how quickly the stresses have been forgotten or passed over, and how quickly the desperation of that time has been dismissed as overkill.

      we ain’t got good memories.

      Cheers,

      Frank
