lagoon #13

a patina is still present
but the green
is further from the water now

the green
beginning to seem leeched
like the intensity of colour
has retreated
back into the earth
while the soil is still soft enough
to be receptive

ripple upon ripple
gentle moving
concentrically away
from each movement
of water boatmen
or other such insect life
as inhabit still pools

but not yet stagnant

life clings
in the expectation
of another outburst
of rain
