lagoon #12 – zen fish

today
there is a breeze and
I think
it may be a tiny bit cooler

you and I sat
to watch
for the shape of fish
but only saw vague ripples

you wondered if
they only surface for me

know themselves to be the subject
of my contemplations

perhaps

in the end
we agreed

seeing the fish
isn’t important

the act of contemplation
makes them as real
as if they were here
before us
