tweedling October

A Poem a Day in October 2016: #12

tweedle and tweedle and tweedle
dut dut
tweedle and tweedle and tweedle
dut dut
tweedle and …

I’ve woken from sleep
with music in my head

some kind of reel

… and tweedle
dut dut

it’s a happy enough tune

spring in the step
rather than dirge
but there is no reason

outside is grey rain
for the fourth day running

the slosh
is approaching ankles
on the unwary

but in here

tweedle and tweedle and tweedle

we are writing
we are painting
we are assessing the grey
for its qualities
as a subject for poem or paint

October has begun
as September left off

as life in an art-scape.

dut dut
tweedle and …
