she danced across the floor with her red shoes on
she clicked her heels in the air with her red shoes on
she leapt between the leaves with her red shoes on
until she stood right at the top of the tree
then she tripped across the sky with her red shoes on
and gamboled among the clouds with her red shoes on
she flew abreast the breeze with her red shoes on
until she’d blown all the way around the world
she circled around the sun with her red shoes on
she swung between the stars with her red shoes on
she left a yellow trail with her red shoes on
then she stopped a while to rest upon the moon

And you should have them.
Best luck with that, and thanks for reading and commenting.

Hi Candy.
Delighted you’ve enjoyed the piece.
The ‘she’ is just an idea I had. A mythical sort of idea that lets her be where she needs to be to do whatever she wants to do – with a certain colour on her shoes, of course!
Thanks for reading and your comment.

Frank

Ah…the red shoes. Have you ever seen the film? The dancer in the red shoes has great success and then the red shoes take over her life. Not a happy ending like your red shoe dancer. I like your version much better.

I know of the story, but don’t think I’ve read it or watched. Yes, I like my version a little better, too.

It is famous with professional dancers. Many of them say they started to want to be dancers after watching the film. It is a sort of dancers myth in some ways.
