A Poem a Day In September: #16
lazy low moon
in the eastern sky
are you too heavy
to climb
you’re hanging so low
light full in my face
you’re lazy
there’s stars standing by
round as a dollar
big as a balloon
clouds drift right past
beneath you
yes you’re one of a kind
bright
but sublime
you make shadows dance and
I’ve got one here beside me
up on the wall
or a run across the road
there’s me
and my shadow
and you
(now get up there)

The moon must have had a heavy dinner haha!

This perfectly captures those few moments when the full moon seems to just hang about the horizon, abnormally large and seemingly too close to earth. Yet so few people bother to look up and notice!

I think the moon is my secret flame, really. Never ending source of wonder and inspiration.
