lazy moon

A Poem a Day In September: #16

lazy low moon
in the eastern sky
are you too heavy
to climb

you’re hanging so low
light full in my face
you’re lazy
there’s stars standing by

round as a dollar
big as a balloon
clouds drift right past
beneath you

yes you’re one of a kind
but sublime
you make shadows dance and
I’ve got one here beside me

up on the wall
or a run across the road
there’s me
and my shadow
and you

(now get up there)
