From a series of meditations for : the Pilgrim
Back to the Pilgrim – Introduction

honesty is like a currency

it will buy you entry
to places otherwise barred
no matter the coinage offered

the pain that comes
when you are rebuffed
is the shock of the unexpected
for what honest person would anticipate

and therein lies the conundrum
for the only response
is honesty
yet again

do not despair at this
but know
trust can only be purchased
one truth at a time

    • Thanks Val, I’m glad the piece works for you. I know what you mean about poetry being a struggle to appreciate, sometimes. I find that also. For me, telling stories is what works best, so I try to go with that.

Cheers and thank you for dropping by and commenting.
