I frighten the neighbours
with sweet songs of love
the only way to sing them
is loud
I don’t suppose
what they hear
sounds much like most love songs
but what would they know
of the way I resound
with heartfelt emotion
when I sing melody
to emmy-lou’s lead
and elton and I
know each other from way back
dirt cowboys and strugglers
with nothing to lose
the boss is the man
to tell a true story
he sings slow and low
and I reach for the deep notes
to stop him from being alone
I guess the neighbours
have a right to feel puzzled
for I give no clues by appearance
that I can sing broken heart
looks are deceptive
and the lounge is a hotbed
of loving and hurting
sweethearts and cheaters
and I am the man
who sings a loud melody
when emmy-lou leads

I like this, Frank. Elton & Bruce sang a lot of my favorites and I butchered them many times over the years.

AH, the butchery of popular music – what a great sport it was, for sure.
Glad you sang them as well, it can get lonely otherwise,!
Cheers,
Frn
